The real estate wing of the Aleut Corp. recently launched a brokerage firm aimed at building economic opportunity and support for Alaska Native communities. Tayal Brokerage, which comes from the Unangam Tunuu word meaning “to buy,” went live in mid-October.

Alcohol sales now allowed during voting hours in Unalaska
It’s now legal to sell alcohol during voting hours in Unalaska, thanks to a change in state law. The Alaska State Legislature recently repealed a ban on liquor sales when polls are open, making this the first general election with the new policy in place.

KUCB wraps up special 50-hour pledge drive, celebrates a half century of community programming
This year, KUCB’s annual fundraising blitz was a little different from usual. The pledge drive marked our 50th anniversary and a half century of local public media in Unalaska. We celebrated the milestone with a 50-hour drive instead of our usual 24 hours. Volunteers hit the airwaves for more than two days to host their own shows and play live music.
