Unalaska’s 2022 city council candidates forum: Mayor

On this year’s ballot for Unalaska’s Municipal Election, there are three city council seats up for grabs, including the seat for mayor.

Brenda Baker is challenging incumbent Darin Nicholson for Seat C; incumbent Daneen Looby is running unopposed for Seat D; and Vice Mayor Dennis Robinson is challenging incumbent Mayor Vince Tutiakoff Sr. for Seat A, which holds the office of mayor.

The City Council Forum will rebroadcast on Friday, Sept. 23 at noon. The school board forum will rebroadcast over KUCB 89.7 FM on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at noon. Both forums will rebroadcast back-to-back on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m.

Starting on Oct. 1 we will run the forums every night at 7 p.m. until Election Day.

  • Polls will be open at City Hall from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m on Election Day, October 4.

    Starting September 14, early and absentee voting is available in person at City Hall, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. up until Election Day.

    You can also vote by mail, email or fax if you apply with the City Clerk. If you vote by mail, applications are due September 26; applications to vote by email or fax are due before noon October 3.

    If you can’t vote it in person October 4, due to illness or physical disability, you can appoint a representative to pick up a ballot for you.

Bob Cummings is running unopposed for reelection for Seat C and David Gibson is running against incumbent Nicole Bice for Seat D.KUCB held a live forum for the candidates on Sept. 14. with Cummings and Gibson. Bice was unable to attend due to a work conflict.
