Twenty-nine seniors graduated Saturday from Unalaska City High School. Families, friends, and community members filled the high school gym for the ceremony celebrating the class of 2023.

“We are hoping to do this again and again in the coming years, and hopefully the community will be more involved,” said first grade teacher Judith Withers. “Because that is what makes us strong people, right? We come together."

Unalaska’s schools and nonprofits will receive the city’s full financial support in fiscal year 2024. On Tuesday, the City Council voted 4-0 to grant the Unalaska City School District’s nearly $5.5 million funding request, along with fully funding seven organizations through the Community Support grant program.
