Raiders Volleyball Places Second At State Tournament

Karie Wilson

The Unalaska Raiders volleyball team placed second at the state tournament in Anchorage.

After an undefeated season, the Raiders lost to King Cove in their first game of the tournament over the weekend. They then beat Glen Allen, Su Valley, and King Cove in a rematch during game 12.

The team played two games on Saturday, beating Klawock in the morning and moving on to the championship game that evening.

The Raiders won two out of five sets against Craig in the championship game, and took state runner-up.

The Unalaska Raiders received a number of special honors during the tournament.  Four individual awards were given out, and two of them went to Unalaska: Alexis Magalong was recognized as best setter and Hailey Wilson as best hitter.

Ruta Sua, Alexis Magalong, and Hailey Wilson were named to the all-tournament team.
