I am island born, raised in Hawaii with “Malama” in my heart; to serve and protect, to honor and respect, and to give honestly and unselfishly.” The diverse people of Unalaska are filled with such kindness. I call Unalaska the island of the north. I call Unalaska home. I am a CCD Teacher, and in training as a lay presider for my church, St. Christopher by the Sea.
I want to bring this community back together and to move forward united. I want to speak t the issues that are important to this community which are: Alternative Energy and Eco-System, Communications-Data Access for Unalaska, Financial Stability, Fishing, Housing, Local Respite and Hospice Care, Affordable Emergency Alert Systems for our senior population, Transportation for Air Land and Sea, and Youth Career and Mentoring Development Programs.
Throughout my life, I have always been drawn to assist those who needed assistance, encourage those who needed encouragement, and support those who needed support. I am passionate about our youth and elders. In 2010, I began employment with the City of Unalaska Department of Public Safety as a Communications Officer and 911 Dispatcher. I worked there for nearly 5 years. During my tenure as an Emergency 911 Dispatcher, I received a S.P.I.C.E Award; SPICE being an acronym for "Service-Pride-Integrity-Commitment- Excellence." These are the qualities I choose to live by, and choose to serve by.
I am Rachelle Hatfield, and I have been the voice to ask the hard questions. I have been the voice to hold those to task and to be accountable. I refuse to pick and choose who I represent because I represent all. The community needs honest, truthful and transparent representation. I hope to win your support and your vote on October 3, 2017
