PenAir has canceled all flights to the Pribilof Islands for the rest of the month.
In a letter to community leaders, PenAir's Murphy Forner, senior vice president of ground operation and business development, wrote that the airline needs to conduct maintenance on its aircraft.
Forner said PenAir has already reached out to customers and made "other arrangements" for them.
The Pribilofs' only passenger airline expects to return to regular service Aug. 3.
Last month, St. George Island received permission from the federal government to begin its subsistence fur seal harvest early because the local store was running out of food.
Flights to St. George are only twice a week and often canceled due to bad weather.
PenAir airline filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last August.
