Two people from the Pribilof Islands died last week in what community officials call a "devastating and sudden loss."
According to a press release from the City of St. Paul, Raymond Stephen Warner of St. Paul Island and Alberta Mary Prokopiof of St. George Island died "unexpectedly" last Wednesday.
Warner was 31 years old, and Prokopiof was 28. Both were sent to Anchorage for autopsies and will be returned to St. Paul for funeral services.
Four behavioral health clinicians will be in St. Paul through Wednesday — courtesy of the Southcentral Foundation — to help family and community members. The St. Paul Health Center is also offering ongoing counseling services to all residents of the Pribilof Islands.
