The City of Unalaska has hired a new director of Parks, Culture, and Recreation (PCR).
In a statement released Friday, city officials announced Roger Blakeley was chosen after a nationwide search that began in September.
Blakeley has 25 years of experience working in parks and recreation. He mostly recently led the departments in Johnson City, Tennessee and Alexandria, Virginia.
He'll replace former PCR Director D. Tyrell McGirt, who left the department earlier this month after a decade on the island.
Blakeley's first day on the job will be Jan. 5.
