My name is Daniel Loy and I am running for City Council Seat F. I have lived in Unalaska for 14 years, met my wife here and we are raising our family here. We know the complexities of living in a rural community and having limited resources.
I am originally from Palmer Alaska and have been in Alaska my entire life. I have lived in several rural areas of this State. I have trapped, fished, hunted and mushed. Growing up, our source of heat was a wood stove. My father, brother and I spent extensive hours cutting, splitting and stacking wood. I have worked in maintenance on the Matson crane since arriving on the Island and have been the foreman for 9 years. I have also worked for the State as a Wildland Firefighter. I am no stranger to hard work. My family and I enjoy fishing, the many beautiful sights of this island that we love. Our children are all currently enrolled in the Unalaska Schools, go Raiders, and we are blessed to have such good schools here.
I am deeply involved in this community and know many people that are as well. I have friends on the school board as well as are business owners here. I am deeply committed to the Island and the people thereof.
