After about three hours of public testimony, the Unalaska school board decided not to change the district’s mandatory mask rules at its meeting Thursday; with the omicron variant dominating new infections in the state, Alaska recorded a new peak in COVID-19 cases last week; and a landmark daily radio show has ended.

Born in rural Northern California, Hope started as a reporter and producer at KZYX in Mendocino County. She then worked at Kichwa Hatari — the first Quechua language radio station in the U.S., based in New York — and KQED in San Francisco.
