Saturday marked 50 years since President Nixon signed the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act into law, a groundbreaking event that changed Alaska history forever.

Last week, we played you a five-part series that explored ANCSA’s legacy in different communities around the state. Today, we’re going to play you something a little different. Unalaska’s Native Corporation was formed in 1973, two years after ANCSA was passed.

Vince Tutiakoff, Sr. serves as the Ounalashka Corporation’s board chair. And AB Rankin has served on the board since 1986 and is the current Vice President.

To finish out our week exploring the 50 years of ANCSA, Tutiakoff and Rankin reflect on the Ounalashka Corporation, and how Unalaska has changed since its inception.
