A monthly half hour community discussion forum aims to build awareness about local health issues that affect our community and gives information on local resources that help address these concerns. Local experts and community members share their thoughts and knowledge on how to live a happy healthy life in Unalaska.

This episode of "Happy, Healthy Unalaska" brought together community behavioral health professionals and domestic violence advocates. They discussed the impact that social distancing and quarantining can have on our mental health and the safety of our homes. 

"Happy Healthy Unalaska" is a radio discussion program that is produced by Unalaskans Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence and KUCB Radio.

This month's episode of Happy Healthy Unalaska discussed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  Host M. Lynn Crane was joined by Sarah Mielke, who recently lead a training program for Unalaska's first responders.  They discussed the impact that trauma has on the body and mind, healthy coping mechanisms, how to help yourself and others who may be experiencing PTSD, and resources for support.

This month's episode of Happy Healthy Unalaska discusses the stigma of addiction. 

Host M. Lynn Crane was joined by Delta Bedard, a behavioral health clinician at the Oonalaska Wellness Center. 

They discussed how the stigma attached to addiction often prevents those who are suffering from seeking help, while sharing information about the resources available for overcoming that stigma.

Lynn Crane was joined by guests Joanna Hinderberger, Principal of Eagle's View Elementary School; Marti Rookala, Eagle's View Elementary Special Education Teacher; and Belty Colborn, USAFV Advocate and parent of an amazing UCSD student. They discussed educating students in a way that addresses individual differences and needs and offered information on local resources.
