Activity at Shishaldin Volcano has decreased since yesterday; the decades-long quest of Chinook tribal members to regain federal recognition had its day in a federal district courtroom in Tacoma this week; and new documents show that the Alaska Native regional corporation for the North Slope collected a big payout when Congress opened the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge's coastal plain to oil drilling two years ago.
