A new radio program celebrating the extraordinary youth in Unalaska will be debuting on KUCB 89.7FM beginning on September 5th at 3:30pm. Conceived and hosted by Amanda Greaves, “Kids Talk” will highlight youth on the island who are contributing to our community in a positive way.
“We have such outstanding kids in Unalaska and I wanted to come up with a way to acknowledge their achievements," Greaves said in an interview with Nick Cron on Tuesday morning. "This could be anything from a Girl Scout who has earned a new badge, to a student athlete performing well in their sport, to the ‘Lifeguard of the Month,'" Greaves said.
The “Kids Talk” segment will begin with a brief interview with the notable kid or teen, followed by their favorite tunes to round out the hour. Greaves says that there is no specific age limit for "Kids Talk" candidates, except that he or she must be old enough to talk, because as she says, " that’s kind of important for a radio program!”
The first "Kids Talk" episode will highlight the four most recent "Lifeguard of the Month" winners including Sean Peters, Bailey Hahn, Elizabeth Mears and Zydneigh Earnshaw.
Make sure to tune in to 89.7FM every Wednesday at 3:30pm
