GCI customers in Unalaska continue to experience internet and mobile service interruptions, including impacts to wireless voice and 911 calling. A damaged section of underwater fiber will require a specialized vessel to repair the fiber. GCI crews are working to restore some services over alternate technologies until repairs are complete.

Unalaska Library Offers Curbside Check-Out

Laura Kraegel/KUCB

The Unalaska Public Library is now offering curbside pick-up.

Members who would like to check out a book or DVD can call 581-5060 between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.,  or email the library at library@ci.unalaska.ak.us with requests.

Items may be picked up between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. from Wednesday through Sunday. The library catalog is available online.

In light of continued changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, DVD checkouts have been increased to 8 discs. And there will be no overdue charges for any items until the library opens back up to the public.

According to Karen Kresh, head librarian, there will be a drop-box available for those who want to return any checked-out items.

More information can be found on the city's website
