Unalaska’s Qawalangin Tribe elected a new council member to its board earlier this month; the vessel that eventually replaces the aging state ferry Tustemena is likely to be a battery-powered diesel-electric hybrid; and a new ABC drama called “Alaska Daily” is set an Alaska newspaper and features some Alaska Native writers.

Hailing from Southwest Washington, Maggie moved to Unalaska in 2019. She's dabbled in independent print journalism in Oregon and completed her Master of Arts in English Studies at Western Washington University — where she also taught Rhetoric and Composition courses.
