President Joe Biden approved a federal disaster declaration in response to Alaska’s recent historic storm; in Unalaska, the storm brought strangely warm temperatures and the possibility of some unexpected visitors; and as various agencies are still assessing the scope of damage from the storm, countless numbers of Western Alaskans have lost subsistence resources, food, and even property that ties them to the land.
