Call For Presentations At Aleutian Life Forum
Late in the summer, a regional conservation conference will be held in Unalaska, and organizers are calling for presentation ideas by the end of April.
The tagline of the Aleutian Life Forum 2016 is "building resilience in the face of change." Conference organizers describe it as a gathering of national, regional and state scientists, industry stakeholders, community leaders and local knowledge experts concerned about climate change. The conference will focus on coming up with solutions to pivotal conservation issues for coastal communities such as Unalaska.
Some of the topics slated for discussion are ocean acidification, oil spill and response, building local observer networks and ensuring sustainable fisheries into the future.
The Qawalangin Tribe is spearheading the conference, in partnership with Alaska Sea Grant and other state and federal scientific groups.
The forum's steering committee is now accepting abstracts for oral and poster presentations on forum topics. The deadline for submission is April 29. For more information, contact the Q Tribe or visit the Aleutian Life Forum website.
