10/17/19 Update: The National Weather Service's storm warming is over. Check out the latest forecasts here.

After causing extensive flooding and record rainfall in Japan, former typhoon Hagibis is generating strong winds and stormy weather across the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands.

The National Weather Service has clocked high winds above 50 miles per hour around the region. Forecasters have also issued a storm warming for much of coastal southwest Alaska, including Unalaska Bay.

Meanwhile, Unalaska's Department of Public Safety has issued a travel advisory for the community.

"There is a category one travel advisory in effect due to high winds and flying debris," said a Public Safety statement released Wednesday morning. "Please secure any loose objects on your property to prevent damage. Drivers should use extreme caution."

While high winds are expected to diminsh throughout Wednesday afternoon and evening, scattered rainfall is forecasted for the foreseeable future.
