Updated Forecast: NWS Issues Weather Advisory, Expecting 4-8 Inches Of Snow In Unalaska
Updated Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 3 p.m.
Unalaskans should expect heavy snowfall Tuesday night.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the eastern Aleutian Islands, including Unalaska and Nikolski.
In effect from midnight until Wednesday at 10 a.m., the advisory calls for four to eight inches of snow accumulation and "greatly reduced" visibility in the Unalaska area.
That snowfall forecast has increased since the morning weather report, which predicted 1.5 inches of "possible" accumulation by Wednesday night.
Forecasters expect the weather to cause travel difficulties, and the Unalaska Department of Public Safety has authorized the use of snow chains on local roads.
