On Thursday, the city signed a 30-year power purchase agreement with Ounalashka/Chena Power, LLC for 30 megawatts of geothermal-produced electrical energy from nearby Makushin Volcano; OptimERA has been experiencing outages over the past couple of days due to wildfires in Washington State; and the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services is prepared to receive a COVID-19 vaccine as early as November.
