In Memoriam: Michael Miller

Michael Gerard Miller, 27, of East Quogue, NY, left this world on August 9, 2016. He was born in Southampton, NY, on December 19th, 1988, the son of Harry and Nancy Miller. He attended East Quogue Elementary School and then Westhampton Beach High School, where he excelled on the wrestling team and in art classes. After graduating in 2007 he joined the U.S. Coast Guard, achieving the rank of Petty Officer Second Class, MST. For several years he lived in New Orleans, LA, where he was an active member of the community, running with both the Louisiana Running Company and Varsity Run Club, attending church and participating in music and art events. In 2014 he moved to Unalaska, AK, where he coached the wrestling team and hosted a music show on radio station KUCB. In 2015 he relocated with the Coast Guard to Nashville. Michael was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, hunting, fishing, travelling and seeking out new adventures. He was also a lover of music and a prolific artist who painted and drew murals, portraits and landscapes, and created designs on surfboards. Michael was a loving brother, son and grandson and made it a priority to remain connected with those he loved, regardless of where his career took him. He was always ready to listen, share his thoughts, and offer love and support to those around him. Michael is survived by his parents, Harry and Nancy Miller? his brother, Kyle? his sister, Kristin? his sister-in-law, Stephanie Miller? and his grandparents, Richard and Carole Miller. He is also survived by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends from around the country. Services were held at Follet and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach and the funeral was held at the Westhampton Presbyterian Church in Quiogue .
