Oscar Brand

Fifty years ago, folksinger Oscar Brand created and hosted a adio show for WNYC in New York called "Folkmusic Festival." It has been on the ir ever since. Liane Hansen speaks with Brand, who describes how the show tarted and some of the guests who have graced his microphones over the years, ncluding Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Josh White, Harry Chapin, Suzanne Vega and any, many others. They also discuss difficulties during the early 1950's, when rand and many of his peers were blacklisted. Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan are eard performing on the show.
