With the clinic's leader stepping down soon, Iliuliuk Family Health Services has named an interim executive director: longtime board member Michelle Cochran.
Cochran will take over for outgoing director Eileen Conlon Scott, who resigned last month for personal reasons.
In the search for Scott's temporary replacement, the clinic's board of directors considered candidates across Alaska.
Board President D. Tyrell McGirt said they ultimately chose Cochran because she's familiar with the clinic's staff and operations, having worked closely with Scott while serving on the board.
McGirt said they also liked Cochran's background in human resources because she'll lead the nationwide search for a new full-time executive director.
Cochran's first day at the clinic is August 15. McGirt said the board hopes to hire a permanent replacement by December.
