In August Primary, Unalaskans Can Vote On Nominees For State and National Races

Unalaska's local election isn't until the fall. But next month, island voters can weigh in on state and national races.

Alaska's primary election will decide who appears on the final ballot for governor, lieutenant governor, and U.S. Representative, as well as a slew of positions in the state legislature.

Any registered voter can cast a ballot on candidates vying for nominations from the Democratic, Libertarian, and Independent parties.

Those hoping to vote on Republican nominees, however, must be registered affiliates of the Republican party, nonpartisan voters, or undeclared voters. They cannot be registered affiliates of another political party.

The primary is Aug. 21st, with the general election following Nov. 6.
