Raiders do it Again!

The Raider boys pulled off a third consecutive win starting off a promising season today when they played the Kotzebue Huskies. Raiders held a strong lead throughout the first half, and at as half time approached had a leading score of 29-20. 

Raiders Dominate Nome in Subway Showdown

Thursday night, the Raider boys basketball team played the Nome Nanooks in Nome.  The Raiders played hard, dominating for most of the game and getting a final score of 50 points against the Nanooks' 23.  Tanner Leggett made 18 points and Trevor Wilson made 14, making them the game's top scorers.  

The Raider girls also played hard against Lumen Christi on Wednesday and Ninilchik on Thursday, but lost both games.  

Senator Lisa Murkowski attended the boys' game against the Nanooks during her most recent visit to Nome, as a way to learn more about the area.

Unalaska City School District

The Unalaska boys' and girls' varsity basketball teams arrived in Anchorage this afternoon. The teens are on their way to play games in Anchorage, the Kenai Peninsula and Nome.

The teams were scheduled to leave Tuesday, but inclement weather grounded their flights.

The boys' team is slated to play a game tonight at Lumen Christi High School in Anchorage. These are their first games of the year, and coach Kent Russell says they’re excited for it.

Local Turkey Trot Raises Funds for Charity

  The annual Turkey Trot: Gobble, Gobble, Run & Wobble for St Jude’s Children’s Hospital has been a tradition for Unalaska. Organized by the Parks, Culture and Recreation, rain, hail, or shine, this fun 5K run has seen many runner, trotters, and walkers. Unlike other runs, the winner is not the first ones to cross the finish line, but those who raised the most donations for St Jude Children’s. 1st place for fundraising went to: Cheyenne Campbell and Bernadette Namasivayam who received a Turkey.
