Vince Tutiakoff Sr. was sworn in as Unalaska's mayor at Tuesday's City Council meeting, which was dominated by discussion of last week's fatal plane crash and subsequent suspension of regular air service.
Councilors Darin Nicholson and Dave Gregory also took their oaths of office, following the Oct. 4 municipal election.
All three men were elected to three-year terms.
Tutiakoff replaced Frank Kelty, who did not seek reelection and is planning to retire.
Nicholson replaced seat C's Roger Rowland, who did not run for reelection either. Rowland has said he's planning to spend more time on family and commercial fishing.
Meanwhile, Gregory was reelected at seat D.
With the new council seated, councilors elected Dennis Robinson to another one-year term as vice mayor. Robinson retained his seat on the council after running against Tutiakoff for the mayor's office and losing by 22 votes.
The City Council's next meeting is a special session on Friday, Oct. 25.
