On December 17th the Alaska Peace Officer Association- Aleutian Islands Chapter held their annual “Shop with a Cop” event.
Eagle’s View Elementary School selected 4 children to participate this year. The children were picked up at the school by 2 police officers, an Alaska State Trooper and other Public Safety personnel in police cars, and a fire truck. They were then taken to Safeway and Alaska Ship Supply to buy gifts for their family for the holiday season.
Gifts were wrapped back at the police station while the children enjoyed cookies and hot chocolate. The evening ended with a surprise visit from Santa Claus who came bearing gifts for all. APOA raises funds throughout the year to make this event possible.
