Raiders Volleyball Headed to Regionals After Win Against Birchwood

On Friday, November 18th, the Raiders Volleyball Teams played their first and only home game against Birchwood Christian School from Anchorage.

The Junior High and Junior Varsity teams started off the evening with their final scrimmages of the season to bleachers full of spectators. According to Coach Amber Wood, “Over the course of the season, all players did a tremendous job and made great improvements to their skills and knowledge of the game of volleyball.”  Wood added that she is looking forward to next season so she and the other coaches can continue to watch these young athletes grow.

Following the JH and JV games, the Raiders Varsity team took the court and honored this years Senior players for their hard work over the years. Afterward, the team proceeded to win three games in a row, securing an overall win against Birchwood.

Saturday evening, the Raiders played just as tough, winning the first three out of a possible five games. It was a great weekend for the Raiders and Coach Wood said, “every team played their very hardest and offered great competitive games.”

Coach Wood credits the terrific season in part to all of the coaches, including Miss Rachel Peter, Mrs. Christie Morris and Mr. Nick Cron. She also wanted to extend a special thank you to the athletes, their parents and the community for their love and support, adding “we really couldn’t do it without you!”

The Varsity team will be headed to the Regional competition in Soldotna on Tuesday, November 29th.
