The Channel 8 Auction was last weekend on February 26th and 27th and it was a huge success! Thanks to the support of volunteers and donors from all over the community, the two-day event raised over $19,000! KUCB auctioned off more than 200 items, and all funds support Channel 8 TV's operating budget.
The volunteer auctioneers pulled out all of the stops to encourage community members to bid high and bid often: they sang, they danced, they modeled products with style and grace and in the process provided great entertainment for viewers.
The auction items varied greatly and included a pair of round-trip tickets to Anchorage, various electronics, apparel from multiple companies from across the island and of course, a handcrafted “My Little Pony” figurine with a KUCB insignia.
The event was live and un-scripted which made for a spirited atmosphere; supporters of KUCB peppered the Burma Road Chapel, ate pizza and acted as a studio audience for our on-air talent.
While the event was a great success, the pledge component of the fundraiser will continue through the third week of March. There will be a drawing for one Alaska Airlines plane ticket and donors will get one entry for every $25 they pledge.
Thanks to all for a wonderful auction weekend! For more information on the auction, visit the links below:
