The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for the eastern Aleutian Islands, including Unalaska and Nikolski.
Forecasters say northwest winds will pick up Thursday around 3 a.m., blowing 50 to 70 miles per hour and gusting up to 85.
They expect the storm to taper off by about 4 p.m.
In the meantime, the Unalaska Department of Public Safety is asking community members to secure loose objects around their properties to prevent flying hazards in the high winds.
