Girls on the Run was brought back to Unalaska this fall by Unalaskans Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence. Girls on the Run is a 10-week comprehensive program that inspires girls to reach their limitless potential. 15 participants and their families and friends will celebrate their hard work and dedication by completing a 5K fun run/walk. This event will take place alongside the PCR’s annual St. Jude Santa Fun Run on Saturday, December 7. Check in begins at 2:30 p.m. at the PCR and the 5K will commence at 3:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Community members that wish to support the girls and run alongside them must sign in with the Girls on the Run staff inside the PCR before the 5K
Girls on the Run is an international non-profit that provides a safe and interactive way for girls in grades 3-5 to learn about themselves, healthy living, and connection to the community. The program includes a curriculum designed to address goal-setting, cooperation, decision-making and self-respect while training for a 5K event. This program is made possible in part by our dedicated volunteers and the citizens of the city of Unalaska and the state of Alaska.
