Calling all performers! Do you sing? Do you dance? Do you read poetry or play an instrument? The Aleutian Arts Council, the Museum of the Aleutians and KUCB are sponsoring the first ever Virtual Coffeehouse, and they are asking community members to submit short videos of at-home performances for this event.
Due to social distancing regulations, many local springtime events have been postponed or canceled, including the AAC's Coffeehouse, the Just Desserts event, and the Community Art Show. The Virtual Coffeehouse will be a combination of all of these three events, and it will be presented on Channel 8 TV as well as social media on May 8, 2020.
This unique program will showcase a variety of local performers, but it will also feature performances from former Unalaskans and also those who are currently off island. In addition, the Virtual Coffeehouse will showcase the art and artists who contributed to the Community Art Show this year, a dessert-making demonstration by Carlos Tayag, and several other surprises.
To coordinate drop-off or to submit your video electronically, email Chrissy Roes at chrissy@kucb.org. KUCB asks that the videos be shot horizontally whenever possible, but will accept all formats.
Special thanks to the Aleutian Arts Council, the Museum of the Aleutians, A Better Way Heating, and the Gehring family for sponsoring this event.
