Unalaska's fall election will feature only one contested race.
Released Friday, the final ballot shows two candidates vying for City Council seat G: incumbent Shari Coleman and Vincent Tutiakoff Sr.
Coleman is a compliance supervisor at the UniSea, Inc. seafood plant. Last October, she ousted Rachelle Hatfield, who was appointed when Frank Kelty vacated the spot to become mayor in 2016.
Tutiakoff also ran for mayor that year, earning fourth place in the five-way race. He currently serves on the boards of directors for the Ounalashka and Aleut Corporations.
Both Alejandro "Bong" Tungul and Carlos Tayag are running unopposed — Tungul for City Council seat F and Tayag for school board seat A.
Tungul is manager at the Gas N Go owned by North Pacific Fuel and a founding member of the island's Filipino American Association. He was first appointed to the council in 2013.
Tayag is a newcomer to the local political scene. He coordinates youth programming for the Unalaska Department of Parks, Culture, and Recreation. He's poised to replace longtime school board member Tammy Fowler Pound, who did not file to run for reelection.
Unalaskans must register to vote by Sept. 2 — a month before the polls open. They can register at City Hall or online.
