Alejandro Bong Tungul, candidate for City Council seat F

My name is Alejandro “Bong” Tungul. I am 61 years old and have been a resident of Unalaska for the past 42 years. I married my wife and raised all four of our children here in Unalaska. My first born and only son, Jason, and my three beautiful daughters, Felicia, Claudine and Alleri are all alumni of Unalaska City School. I am a responsible family man who was actively involved in my children’s academics and extracurricular activities ranging from coaching their youth sports teams, to assisting them with fundraising for school events, and with chaperoning as needed.

I have been, and continue to be, immensely involved in community services and the developments of various programs throughout my residency here in Unalaska. For seven years I volunteered for the Firefighter Association, was one of the founding pioneers of the Filipino American (Fil-Am) Association of Unalaska, and have served on the council for the past eight years. Within those eight years I have attended and supported all local events and programs held by various organizations, companies, and nonprofits. I have participated in decisions that protect and further develop the community to ensure a bright future for the residents of Unalaska.

I am running for another term as a city council member to continually return the love and support of the community that has graciously been provided to my family and I. This has been my home for the last 42 years and a place my children proceed to call home. I want to perpetrate a community rich in camaraderie and goodwill, to improve our infrastructures and support projects that will benefit our local community, address the issues that confront us in the ever-changing world, and to serve and protect our senior residents as well as our children. There is nothing more rewarding for me than to serve the community that nurtured my family and I through the years.

Please don’t forget to go to the City Hall on October 5th to cast your vote! Thank you and God bless.
