UCSD Student of the Week: Donnie Lane

UCSD

The High School Department selected Donnie Lane as  Student of the Week (January 18-22, 2016) for the following reasons:

Donnie Lane is having a great senior year in band. He leads his peers through example, always paying attention and doing his best. He has long been a loyal band member, and the improvement he's made throughout the years is incredible. It is wonderful having leaders like Donnie in class. Keep it up, Donnie! ~Ms. McNamara, Music Teacher

Donnie is a thoughtful and compassionate student who exhibits a marked penchant for philosophical musing in his writing. Over the past three years that I have had him as a student in English, I have noticed that he invariably takes great care to try to look at conflicts/issues from multiple perspectives, and does not rush to make facile judgments about complicated topics. In short, he has excellent critical thinking skills that will serve him well in the coming years. ~Ms. Rudio, English Teacher

Donnie has been an excellent student throughout the entire year. While working in class, it is clear that he is a dedicated not only to mastering the material, but ensuring that other members of his group are comfortable with the material as well. When questions arise, Donnie makes sure that he is vocal which allows for a deeper understanding and investigation into the material. I look forward to having Donnie in class for the rest of the year and am certain he will be successful in his future endeavors. Keep it up Donnie! ~ Mr. Holloway, Math Teacher

Donnie is the son of Don & Lori Lane.
