Successful Regional Meet for Raider Wrestling

Last weekend, the Unalaska Raider wrestling team travelled to Bethel, Alaska to compete in the Great Alaska Conference Regional Wrestling Meet. The Great Alaska Conference consists of schools all across the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta and the Aleutians and there were 20 different participating teams, including Unalaska.

The Raider wrestlers had three regional champions this year:

1^st Place – Dustin Ruckman (132)

1^st Place – Alex Esnardo (138)

1^st Place – Seth Henning (195)

They also had many individual regional qualifiers:

2^nd Place –Peder Jeppesen (113)

3^rd Place – John Esnardo (120)

2^nd Place – Landen Shiashnikoff (145)

2^nd Place – Chris Garcia (170)

2^nd Place – Talon Shiashnikoff (182)

3^rd Place – John Khongsuk (220)

4^th Place – Quinnton Parker (220)

2^nd Place – Matthew Faoasau (285)

The Unalaska Raider team also won the Academic Award this year, with a cumulative GPA of 3.3. The state qualifying wrestlers will be competing this weekend in Anchorage. Wish them luck! Great job Raider wrestling!
