Unalaska city officials are fixing a defective transformer after faulty equipment caused a partial power outage Sunday night.
The outage started just before midnight and lasted for an hour and 20 minutes, according to J.R. Pearson, Unalaska's Deputy Director of Public Utilities. It killed power in town, on the spit, and at the airport.
Pearson said two powerhouse employees restored power on Monday around 1:20 a.m., after locating and isolating a broken recloser. He said they're in the process of replacing the part and fully repairing the transformer.
