This October, KUCB is celebrating its tenth anniversary as Unalaska's public radio station.

We grew from a telephone-transmitted repeater outlet to a full-service local radio station in 2008. During our recent pledge drive, we commemorated that switch with help from our staff, board members, volunteer deejays, and listeners.

This month, KUCB is celebrating its 10th anniversary as Unalaska's public radio station; Lt. Gov. Byron Mallott has resigned over unspecified "inappropriate" comments; and Election Day is Nov. 6.

The City of Homer is contemplating a ban on thin single-use plastic bags; Candidate Alyse Galvin has outraised incumbent Alaska Congressman Don Young ahead of the Nov. 6 election; and absentee voting starts next week at Unalaska City Hall.

The UCSD big gym was packed with Raider fans for the Unalaska City School Wrestling team Inter-squad Scrimmage on Friday October 12th at 7pm. Twenty-three wrestlers participated in the event.

The scrimmage began as Principal Jim Wilson recognized the wrestling team’s five seniors: Ethan Iszler, Seth Henning, Raul Garcia, Dustin Ruckman and Alex Esnardo. Following the senior night presentation, Coach Brian Whittern spoke to the crowd about this year’s team.
